"How brave are you, little Annemarie?" It is 1943 and for ten-year-old Annemarie Johansen life in Copenhagen is still relatively normal - school, family, sharing fairy stories with her little sister. But there are dangers and worries too - food shortages and curfews, and the constant presence of Nazi soldiers. When the German authorities begin their campaign to eradicate the Jews from Denmark, her Jewish best friend Ellen is in danger. Annemarie must summon all her courage and bravery to help Ellen make a daring escape. Inspired by true events of the Second World War, this gripping novel brings the past vividly to life for today's readers.
