Build Web-ready Java applications faster with Visual J++. This comprehensive guide delves into the realm of network programming for the Internet, revealing the specific ways Microsoft Visual J++ can employ and extend the Java network package. You'll examine a wide range of sample network applications-including chat, broadcast, and Ping-along with demonstrations that show the advantages of alternative techniques. From learning how to manage device communications to building a custom socket implementation, you'll get the inside track on every essential area of network application development. Extend your network programming productivity with Visual J++: Tour the TCP/IP protocol suite. Understand how User Datagram Protocol (UDP) and Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) work. See working examples of Java UDP and TCP client applets and servers. Use MulticastSocket classes to talk to groups. Work with native code and create new SocketImpl classes. Build new networking interfaces using COM network objects. An electronic version of this book is available on the companion CD.
