Responding to postwar abstract art, he created large-scale gestural reworkings of Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse. Other works range from geometric abstraction to paraphrastic commentary on Michelangelo, Picasso, and Matisse. Extremely prolific, he creates hundreds of works—paintings, sculptures, poems—a year.
